Spray Foam Insulation

Spray polyurethane foam (SPF) is better than any other type of insulation at reducing air leakage.  With foamed-in-place insulation, it is relatively easy (though not expensive) to fill wall and ceiling cavities completely.  Closed-cell spray foam provides a higher R-value per inch (6.5) than less expensive insulation types like cellulose and fiberglass (3.5 to 3.7). Most spray foam is called “two-component” foam.  Two ingredients conventionally called A and B components are mixed on-site using special equipment mounted on a trailer or truck.  Heated hosed convey the components into mixing gun that sprays the chemicals on the surface to be insulated.

Fiberglass Insulation

Fiberglass is a type of fiber primarily composed of glass that is used in a wide variety of applications and is predominantly employed as a residential and commercial thermal insulator.  Fiberglass is also used to create products as varied as automobile bodies, boat hulls, arrows, roofing, shower curtains, and tent poles.  As an insulator, it slows the spread of what, cold, and sound in structures, cars, and aircraft.  By trapping pockets of air, it keeps rooms warm in the winter and cool in the summer, and thereby serves as a convenient method to increase energy efficiency.  Fiberglass is an attractive choice for home insulation because it poses no fire hazard.  According to some estimates, thermal insulation conserves 12 times as much energy as is lost in its production, and it may reduce residential energy cost by 40%.

Insulation Removal

Vacuuming and removal is a very labor-intensive and time-consuming task.  We generally need a whole week’s notice to get a job and it may take 1-2 days to complete.  Most insulation removal is based on raccoon, possum, or rodent infestations. There are usually just a few areas affected, we often recommend Spot Removal, which is very simple to remove insulation and debris around the affected areas.
